Alimentando Vocaciones VI, a resounding success

On May 3rd, the Etopía Etopía Center in Zaragoza transformed into the hub of excitement for theAlimentando Vocaciones VIfair. Organized by IA2 (Aragon Institute of Agrifood) and in collaboration with FECYT (Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology), this research fair, now in its sixth edition, gathered students from various educational institutions across Aragon to explore and present research in the field of agrifood.

From 9 AM to 2 PM, the atmosphere at Etopía was charged with enthusiasm and creativity as young talents shared their projects and research. The venue was filled with colorful booths where student teams displayed their findings and prototypes to the jury, ranging from new recipes to innovative food production technologies.

The jury, including Inmaculada Martín Burriel, Director of the Aragon Institute of Agrifood (IA2), Pilar Errea Abad, Director of the Aragon Research and Technology Center for AgrifoodCITA, and Jerusalén Jaime Lahoz, Head of Marketing and Communications at Esciencia, listened attentively and posed questions to the participants.

While various groups presented their projects, other students engaged in additional activities held throughout the day. Participants enjoyed an agrifood-related escape room or various experiments conducted by our colleague Lara.

After an intense day of presentations and deliberations, the time leading up to the awards ceremony featured a talk by climber María Laborda, where the young influencer discussed the importance of nutrition and sports practice for a healthy life.

Finally, the judges faced the tough task of selecting winners from many exceptional projects. However, by the end of the day, several teams stood out for their creativity, innovation, and focus on sustainability: “Pepaguettis” from FEC Nuestra Señora del Carmenin Category 1, and “Packfood” from IES Clara Campoamor Rodríguez, in Category 2, with special mentions to: “Las Legumbres nos salvarán” from IES Pedro Laín Entralgoin Híjar in Category 1, and “Pologumball” from Colegio Nuestra Señora de la Mercedin Category 2.
